But it’s not pain. It’s laughing with your friend at a time when you shouldn’t. It’s the sweat in your palms wanting to know someone you see and the pit in your stomach when they actually see you. It’s being touched by hands that aren’t your own. It’s the thrill of an escape that almost wasn’t. It’s the embarrassment you feel, naked for the first time. It’s helping a friend find something they lost. It’s a smile, a joke, a song. It’s what someone does that they like doing. It’s what someone does that they like remembering. It’s the thinking of things you may never do and the doing of things you may never have thought. It’s the road ahead and the road behind. It’s the first step and the last and every one in between, because they all make up the good life.

Benjamin Button is definitely one of my favorite movies this year.  Cate Blanchett was absolutely stunning and Brad Pitt was wonderful! This is definitely an epic love story!

After Button we saw Slumdog…excellent indy film!! Based in Mumbai, tells the story of 2 brothers growing up in the slums. 

Both movies are up for Golden Globe Nominees….they both had the moral of everything happens for a reason and our kismet or destiny is already paved out for us.   I loved them both!!

Last night we stayed in and watched “Sidewalks of New York”…really good movie w/ a good cast! It was all about a group of New Yorkers in search of romance.  I loved it.

Tonight I’m meeting up w/ Tam to see “Doubt” w/ Meryl Streep…I heard this is a really good movie…can’t wait!!

Saying good-bye to you today is the hardest thing I’ll ever have to do, and when I get back, I can honestly swear that I’ll never do it again. I love you now for what we’ve already shared and I love now in anticipation for all that’s to come. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. I miss you already, but I’m sure in my heart that you’ll be with me always. In the past few days I spent with you, you became my dream. ~ Nights in Rodanthe

 

 

Last night Cynthia gave me 2 passes to see “Nights in Rodanthe.” I got off of work and headed over to meet Tamara.  It took almost an hour to get to what is normally 10min away because the traffic was so bad.  Since some of Houston is still without power, the traffic has become ridonkulous at areas w/ non-working street lights.  Anywhoo….by the time I met up w/ Tam @ Harlows I was 3 drinks behind her, but was greeted w/ a chilled cosmo.  It was very strong and just what I needed after that crazy traffic.  We sipped our tini’s and headed in to the movie.  Words cannot capture that movie.  It was definitely not what I had imagined.  It left me thinking….Love sux! I mean, I can’t imagine finally after FOREVER finally finding my soulmate….someone who makes you feel lifted, and who makes you shine and who you do the same for….just being taken away from you.  I have dealt with my share of heartbreak, but something as devastating has never been bestowed upon me.  Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the theater….even the men were crying.  I woke up this morning, still with that movie on my mind and still feeling the pain of heartbreak….

Gary Shaller is at a crossroads in his life: his job is going nowhere, his wife, Dora, drives him crazy, and he passed his thirtieth birthday four years ago. Add to that his best friend Paul seems to become more successful every time he breathes. Gary is feeling depressed and dejected… until he meets Anna. She’s beautiful and smart; she’s sexy and funny. Best of all, she’s crazy about Gary. Anna is the girl of Gary’s dreams…literally. And that’s the problem. Gary can only see Anna in his dream life, so he’s got to find a way to carry on the most satisfying relationship of his life, in his dreams. His quest for lucid dreaming techniques introduces Gary to some crazy characters who ultimately give him a new perspective on life. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz, and Danny Devito.  Great movie!!

Emily Jackson lives a fast-paced life. Always on the go, able to talk around the clock, with a sensitive soul she loves playing matchmaker for her friends. It’s Emily’s gay roommate and frequent companion Peter, who becomes again the subject matchmaking skills when handsome new photographer assistant Paolo arrives at the Vogue offices, where Emily works. She makes it her mission to bring the two men together. Unfortunately for her, she is so busy arranging a love connection between Peter and Paolo that she remains completely blind to the one suitor who longs to provide her with the loving companionship that she so cheerfully arranges for others. And so it does make sense that Peter, a screenwriter in the making, starts telling the story from his own point of view. Written by kerrsmith2306  Starring Brittany Murphey…it is very “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” Loved it!!

UNDER THE SAME MOON (LA MISMA LUNA) tells the parallel stories of nine-year-old Carlitos and his mother, Rosario. In the hopes of providing a better life for her son, Rosario works illegally in the U.S. while her mother cares for Carlitos back in Mexico. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Along the way, mother and son face challenges and obstacles but never lose hope that they will one day be together again. Written by Fox Searchlight  Staring Kate del Castillo, America Ferrera, and Los Tigres del Norte.  Really really good movie!! Had me crying 1/2 of the time!!
